Texts, photos and group chats
SMS and MMS from your second number, with reactions, replies, drafts and starred messages. Ticks only appear once the carrier has actually taken the message.
Features
Give it to buyers, dates, landlords and clients. Keep your real number for the people who already have it.
SMS and MMS from your second number, with reactions, replies, drafts and starred messages. Ticks only appear once the carrier has actually taken the message.
Incoming calls ring on your lock screen like any other call. Mute, speaker, keypad and hold are all there, and you can see which number they called.
Your own voicemail with a written transcript. Record a custom greeting for each number, and have new messages emailed to you if you like.
Do Not Disturb on a schedule, business hours for a work line, and an automatic reply to missed calls and texts, with keyword rules.
Block a number in two taps, filter texts by keyword into a spam folder, and send unknown callers straight to voicemail.
Write now and send later, set a conversation to disappear, and keep quick replies one tap away.
Keep your second line private behind Face ID, your fingerprint or a passcode.
Keep work, selling, dating and family apart, each with its own inbox, voicemail and settings.
Reach people abroad with credits. The rate is shown before you dial, and nothing is charged until the call connects.
How it works
Sign up with email, Sign in with Apple, or Google. No phone number, no credit card.
Choose an area code in the US or Canada, or search for digits you like. It's yours as soon as you confirm.
Share the number with whoever you like. Texts, calls and voicemail arrive in the app, separate from your main line.
Said up front
Most second-number apps leave this out. You should know before you rely on it.
Dial an emergency number in the app and we hand the call to your phone's own dialer, so it reaches emergency services through your mobile carrier, with your location.
It's an internet (VoIP) number, and some banks and apps refuse those for verification codes. We never promise a code will arrive.
It stays yours while you open the app at least once a year. Miss that and we warn you three times, then hold it 30 days before letting it go. The exact rules
Calls and texts travel over Wi-Fi or mobile data. With neither, your second number can't ring, and messages wait until you're back online.
Pricing
We never charge for something that didn't happen. A text that fails or a call that doesn't connect costs nothing.

Questions
Yes. The free plan gives you one US or Canadian number with unlimited texting, unlimited incoming calls and 100 outgoing US and Canada minutes a month. It shows one ad in your messages list and never anywhere else. Paid plans remove the ad and add more.
No. 2nd Phone Line runs as an app on the phone you already have, over Wi-Fi or mobile data. Your main number keeps working exactly as before.
No. You sign up with an email address, Sign in with Apple, or Google. We never ask for your existing number to give you another one.
Sometimes, and we won't pretend otherwise. Your number is an internet (VoIP) number, and some banks, apps and social networks refuse VoIP numbers for sign-up codes. Delivery depends on the service sending the code, not on us, so don't make it the only recovery number for an account you can't afford to lose.
As long as you keep using it. Once you have started using your number, it stays yours until 12 months pass without you opening the app. Before that happens we warn you three times, then hold it for 30 more days so you can reclaim it. A number that is never used is released after 30 days. On Plus or 3 Lines, your numbers are kept for as long as the subscription is active.
Not through 2nd Phone Line. If you dial an emergency number in the app, we hand the call straight to your phone's own dialer so it goes through your mobile carrier, with your location.
The United States and Canada. You can call and text internationally with credits.
Yes. You can port your number out to another carrier from the app. We don't block a valid request. See how in Help.
